Dear Parents and Students,

I am Dr Anthony Fok, an Economics tutor, and I am delighted to welcome you to this website.

If you are here, it is likely because you wish to improve your Economics grades. In the GCE ‘A’ Level examinations, examiners are increasingly demanding. They look for higher-order thinking skills—Application, Analysis, Synthesis, and Evaluation—in your answers. Simply memorizing lecture notes will not set you apart; in fact, it may limit your ability to answer questions comprehensively.

To excel, you need to apply economic principles to real-world events, such as the recent Eurozone Crisis, and integrate different topics to construct a coherent line of argument while reconciling conflicting ideas. You must also evaluate the effectiveness and limitations of various economic policies and present your ideas in a logical, clear, and concise flow. Examiners value the quality of thought over quantity of writing, and expect students to demonstrate their thinking process. For this reason, I incorporate real-world examples and personal anecdotes to guide students in developing the mindset required to tackle these challenges.

I am confident in my ability to make Economics not only more manageable, but also engaging and interesting, even if it currently feels like a chore. Success in Economics is achievable, provided you have an open mind and the willingness to learn in the right way.

I treat my students like friends and partners in learning, and they know they can rely on me whenever they face difficulties in their studies. Many of my former students have gone on to attend top local and overseas universities, including the University of Cambridge and the London School of Economics and Political Science, and we continue to stay in touch.

I have always been passionate about Economics. To me, it is not only a fascinating subject but also extremely practical and relevant to real life. Beyond helping you achieve an A, I aim to inspire you to see Economics as a subject that empowers you to understand and navigate the world.
